What is Landlord and Tenant Protection?

Landlord and Tenant Protection is an online platform that connects agents, landlords, and tenants. We offer a range of services, including tenant rating, rent protection insurance, tenant contents insurance, and property management, helping to streamline property management and ensure smoother rental experiences for all parties involved.

What insurance options are available for landlords?

We provide multiple insurance options for landlords, including:

  • Rent Guarantee Insurance: Protects landlords from loss of rental income if a tenant fails to pay rent.
  • Tenant Liability Insurance: Covers landlords against any damage a tenant may cause to the property.
  • Buildings Insurance: Covers the structural elements of the property from risks like fire, flood, or other damage.
What insurance options are available for tenants?

For tenants, we offer:

  • Contents Insurance: Covers the cost of repairing or replacing your personal belongings in case of theft, fire, or damage.
  • Tenant Liability Insurance: Protects you if you accidentally damage your landlord’s property during your tenancy.
Which credit report is the best?

It is best to check your credit with all three of the main credit referencing agencies: Experian, Equifax & TransUnion. Lenders will usually have a preferred agency, but all three may have data about your financial history.   

Landlord & Tenant Protection has partnered with Canopy to help tenants build an accurate credit history by including their rental payments within Experian reports (available at our Silver and Gold pricing tiers). We also provide an option to help tenants actively improve their credit history and include their rent in reports from all three agencies.

What is a rent insurance guarantee?

Rent guarantee is an insurance policy for landlords that offers financial security in the event that their tenants can’t pay rent. It can offer peace of mind and reassurance for landlords who are dependent on their rental income. Learn more about our Rent Guarantee Insurance.

How do agents benefit from using the platform?

No, but it is recommended! Tenant liability insurance is an optional policy that tenants can claim against if there is damage to furniture, fixtures and fittings in their rental property. Learn more about our Tenant Liability Insurance.

What is credit reporting?

A credit report provides lenders with a picture of your credit history, such as taking out and paying back loans, credit cards and other debt. There are three main credit reference agencies (CRA): Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Each CRA uses their own unique scoring system to determine your credit rating.

Before a landlord or letting agent commits to a financial agreement with a tenant, they will request a credit report to ensure that their investment and commitment does not carry a high risk of unpaid debt.
